Lookout has grown immensely in the last year. We've doubled the size of the company—added more than 80 engineers to the team, support 45+ million users, have over 1000 machines in production, see over 125,000 QPS and more than 2.6 billion requests/month. Our analysts use Hadoop, Hive, and MySQL to interactively manipulate multibillion row tables.
With that, there are bound to be some growing pains and lessons learned.
On Thursday July 25th at 7:00p, Lookout will be hosting a night of talks to share these lessons about scaling a company as well as scaling for mobile.
The talks will cover a range of topics, including missteps that we've made, how to leverage automation to move quickly with a small team, setting up authentication between mobile apps and services, considerations you should make when setting up a location based service, and more!
This is a small conference, open to server engineers, mobile engineers, dev ops engineers, and anyone else who wants to participate in a dialogue. The conference will be held at Lookout's office in San Francisco; there will be a cocktail hour following.
Location: 1 Front Street San Francisco, CA 94111 (Corner of Front and Market—closest to Embarcadero Muni/BART stop)
*When you arrive at 1 Front Street, check in with the security attendant at the front desk. They will send you up to the 26th floor*
